Melt the butter in a frying pan and cook the onions, stirring constantly, until softened, about 5 minutes. Stir in the mustard and crÅme fraöche. Season with salt and pepper. Warm through, stirring occasionally. If the sauce is too thick, stir in 1/2 cup of warm water.
